Queens of the Stone Age have never been particularly interested in following conventional rules. Led by Josh Homme, the American rock band has built its reputation on a distinctive combination of alternative rock, heavy guitar riffs and an often unpredictable approach to songwriting. Their ninth studio album, ‘Perfecth’, introduces another chapter in that ongoing musical development.
Released on October 30, 2026, through Matador Records, the nine-track album was produced by Homme and bassist Michael Shuman. Recording sessions took place in several locations, including New Orleans and Los Angeles.
The unusual album title reflects Homme’s questioning of the idea of perfection. By changing the spelling of the word to ‘Perfecth’, he challenges the notion that anything can ever be truly perfect.
Another important influence behind the record is kintsugi, the Japanese tradition of repairing broken pottery with gold. Rather than concealing the damage, the technique makes the cracks part of the object’s appearance.
That philosophy provides a central theme for the album, with its songs exploring different forms of love, loss and emotional recovery.
The recordings bring together Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore. According to the band, the material moves between contrasting moods and musical approaches, reflecting the different emotions running through the album.
Among the nine tracks is Insignificant Other, released ahead of the album. Homme describes the song as dealing with emotional distance and the sudden disappearance of someone who once occupied an important place in another person’s life.
Other titles include It’s Only Love, Where The Goth Girls At?, Phantom Limb and the closing track Run Away From the Mob.
With ‘Perfecth’, Queens of the Stone Age present a record shaped by personal experience and the idea that imperfection can be an essential part of human relationships.
The album is available on CD, vinyl and digitally, with several vinyl editions including a limited deluxe version. To mark the release, the band has also organised HalloQueen events at participating record stores around the world on October 31.
Selected stores will offer exclusive promotional items and a limited-edition ‘Perfecth’ picture disc.
