Mama’s Broke – Reunion
Format: LP / Stream
Label: Free Dirt Records
Release date: August 28, 2026
Canadian folk duo Mama’s Broke return with ‘Reunion’, a 12-track album shaped by more than a decade of touring and a musical style that refuses to be confined by borders. Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria explore a world marked by fractured communities, fading trust and the erosion of shared ground, approaching these themes with reflection rather than direct confrontation.
The album’s intimate sound is built around delicate, stripped-back arrangements and the duo’s haunting vocal harmonies. Keeler contributes vocals, guitar, banjo and shruti box, while Maria adds vocals, fiddle, mandolin and guitar. Guest musicians including Paul Kowert on double bass and Philippe Bronchtein on pedal steel add subtle depth to selected tracks.
Recorded primarily at The Tractor Shed in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, with Sean Sullivan serving as engineer and co-producer, ‘Reunion’ captures Mama’s Broke at their most restrained and evocative. The result is a timeless folk record that feels less like a studio production than a collection of songs passed down through voices, memory and experience.
