American blues and roots artist Tas Cru returns with his new studio album ‘Might Give Out… But I Won’t Give In’, released on July 24, 2026 through SubCat Records.
Based in Central New York, Cru has built a reputation as a songwriter who rarely confines himself to one particular corner of the blues. His music moves between blues and roots styles, with the song itself remaining at the heart of his approach. The new album continues that philosophy with another collection of entirely original material.
Cru is equally comfortable performing with a full band or in a stripped-down acoustic setting. His instrumental range reflects that versatility: electric and acoustic guitars, resonator and cigar box guitar all form part of his musical vocabulary, with harmonica occasionally added to the mix. With more than 150 songs to his name, however, Cru considers himself a songwriter first and foremost.
That emphasis on songwriting is once again central to ‘Might Give Out… But I Won’t Give’ In. Rather than staying within strict genre boundaries, the album draws on the different blues and roots influences that have become characteristic of Cru’s work.
Two tracks have been selected as focus songs: the title track Might Give Out and Lucky At Love, offering an introduction to Cru’s latest collection of original material.
Cru has also established a strong connection with the wider blues community. From 2008 until 2023, he hosted the annual Tas Cru Rum Boogie Jam during the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Alongside extensive touring throughout the United States, his music has also taken him to Europe and Canada.
