PD Martin – Overqualified & Underpaid
Format: Vinyl / CD / Digital
Label: Fandango Music Belgium
Release date: October 16, 2026
PD Martin is a Belgian blues band led by singer and guitarist Piet Vercauteren. The ten-track album combines seven original compositions with three interpretations of songs by musical influences. The material moves between blues, funk grooves and swinging shuffles, reflecting the band’s broad musical approach.
Recorded at Studio Fandango, ‘Overqualified & Underpaid’ was made with an emphasis on capturing the band’s live energy and interaction. Studio engineer Dirk Lekenne explains that the recording process involved as little interference as possible, avoiding excessive production in favour of the band’s natural performance.
The album follows the band’s debut, Soulbeat Incarnate, released in February 2023. In 2024, PD Martin won the Belgian Blues Challenge. The following year, the band continued developing its blend of blues and funk, with the new album marking its second full-length release.
The lineup features Piet Vercauteren on guitar and vocals, Joris Holderbeke on bass, Rien Gees on drums and Hein Mandos on keyboards. Guest musicians include saxophonist Johan Vandendriessche, trumpeter Nico Schepers and backing vocalist Tess Thyssen.
