Laura Veirs returns with Temple Songs, her first album in four years and the first she has written, recorded, arranged, produced, and performed entirely on her own.

Laura Veirs returns with ‘Temple Songs’, her first album in four years and her most independent project to date. Written, recorded, arranged, produced and performed entirely by Veirs, the 11-track album was created in just three months in her backyard “Temple of Bloom” studio in 2025.

Recorded with only two microphones and a laptop, ‘Temple Songs’ embraces an organic, imperfect approach inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi. Ambient sounds from the surrounding neighborhood – including rain, birds and everyday interruptions – became part of the intimate character of the recordings. Veirs played guitars, bass, drums and percussion herself, with only a guest saxophone contribution.

Across its concise 30-minute running time, the album combines intricate nylon-string guitar, vulnerable vocals and experimental electric guitar. Songs such as “Arc Still Bends,” “River’s Song,”
