New York powerhouse vocalist Sari Schorr returns in the spotlights after the release of her 2023 collaboration with guitarist Robin Trower in Joyful Sky, with a new album called ‘Running Wild’. Schorr channels her restless energy in ten songs exploring themes like resilience, self-discovery, struggle and change.

‘Running Wild’ opens up with Mr. In The Middle, a powerful rock song that traces back to her collaboration with Robin Trower, with a guitar riff that Trower could have played. In ‘Running Wild’, the title song of the album, Schorr does what she does best: singing vocal fireworks with a voice  ranging from rough-edged intensity (rock chick high pitched) to genuine vulnerability (deep bluesy, not unlike Joan Osborne’s voice).

Monday Morning hears like a remake of The Stones’ Honky Tonk Women and is followed by one of the highlights of the album, Man On Fire, which is a tribute to resilience and never giving up, beautifully sung and with great guitar work. Cool Hand Ride is powerful rock, as is Elevate, a call for standing together in the name of love and dignity.

The next highlight is Call It Freedom, a ballad inspired by Schorr’s grandfather’s migration from Kyiv (then Russia, now Ukraine) to New York. The song reminds of Pink Floyd’s Shine On You Crazy Diamond and develops in powerful rock, which reveals a potential trap to Schorr: the ever-present risk of outcrying herself.

After that, Better Day, a celebration of kindness, empathy and love, is built on a great AOR guitar riff. With the power rock of Afterglow and the semi-acoustic Finding My Way, an anthem for anyone searching for who they are, ‘Running Wild’ is completed.

‘Running Wild’ is a strong follow-up to Schorr’s earlier albums and establishes her as a strong powerhouse vocalist and vulnerable songwriter.
