Skerryvore have built an international following with their energetic combination of traditional Scottish music, folk, rock and contemporary songwriting. Following the success of their 2023 album ‘Tempus’, which topped both the Scottish and Folk Album Charts, the band now prepare to release their latest studio album, ‘Beautiful Mistakes’.
The new album explores the idea that mistakes and imperfections are an essential part of being human. Rather than pursuing perfection, Skerryvore have adopted a more spontaneous recording approach, working for the first time with producer Jamie Squire, whose credits include The 1975.
Vocalist and songwriter Alec Dalglish describes the sessions as a more organic process, often beginning with stripped-back acoustic arrangements before developing into fuller productions. The band also aimed to capture more of the energy and interaction of their live performances.

The album’s 13 tracks combine personal reflections with broader themes of love, loss and human connection. Singing Up In Heaven pays tribute to Dalglish’s late father, while the instrumental Scarinish takes its name from a village on the Scottish island of Tiree, home to founding members Daniel and Martin Gillespie.
Another notable collaboration is While I’m Breathing, featuring Scottish singer-songwriter Tamzene in the band’s first recorded duet.
The album is introduced by the single Fly, a song looking back at Skerryvore’s early years and the friendships that helped shape the band. It reflects the group’s continuing connection to its roots while embracing a contemporary folk-rock sound.
