Louder Than Fate is JJ Nichols’s fourth studio album and it is his best by far. If you like blues driven hard rock, with a heavy metal edge sometimes, then Louder Than Fate is a must. Nichols is famous for his pick-less guitar playing and you can enjoy that for 100% on Nichols’s new album, which features ten songs, with a remarkable short playing time of thirty-six minutes!
Louder Than Fate kicks off with the no-nonsense track Let’s Go, an tempo song with a typical fast Nichols guitar solo, however the lyrics are rather “lame” indeed. Next up is one of the highlights, being Ghost, a noticeable heavier song, featuring a high-pitched mean guitar solo.
Other highlights include Bending Or Breaking and Killing Time, both swampy, mean, and lean blues driven hard rocking tracks featuring those recognisable guitar melodies, riffs, and solos of Nichols.
The only run of the mill song is the final track Pretend, but for the rest this is Nichols at his absolute best, top notch guitar playing and great rock and rolling’ indeed.
