Pure Reason Revolution – Terrifying Angels
Pure Reason Revolution return with ‘Terrifying Angels’, a darker and heavier progressive rock album built around transformation, salvation and destruction

Release date: September 25, 2026
British progressive rock band Pure Reason Revolution released their new studio album ‘Terrifying Angels’ on September 25, 2026, via InsideOutMusic.
The seven-track album follows 2024’s ‘Coming Up to Consciousness’, but moves into heavier territory. Jon Courtney describes that change as a natural reaction to the more reflective character of its predecessor, with heavier riffs, darker atmospheres and grunge influences now taking a more prominent role alongside the band’s vocal harmonies.
The album’s title grew from Courtney’s interest in traditional depictions of angels. Rather than the comforting figures often seen in popular culture, he was drawn to older representations of angels as powerful and sometimes frightening beings.

That contrast between salvation and destruction became a recurring idea across songs dealing with love, memory, truth and identity.
Collaboration also played an important part in ‘Terrifying Angels’. Founding member Greg Jong, Paul Mullen and Kenny Fitzgerald contributed to the writing alongside Courtney.
Annicke Shireen provides vocals and Ravi Kesavaram drums, while Mariusz Duda of Lunatic Soul and Kristoffer Gildenlöw appear as guest bassists.
The album was mixed by Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief and is available on CD, vinyl and digitally.
