The Pineapple Thief will release ‘Far And Wide’ on October 9, 2026 via InsideOutMusic. The nine-track album follows 2024’s ‘It Leads To This’ and grew out of a more collaborative writing process, with the band deliberately focusing on arrangements that reflect its five-piece live identity.
Work on the album began after the band returned to the UK from shows in South America in 2025. Bruce Soord subsequently travelled to drummer Gavin Harrison’s North London studio, where the pair worked together rather than remotely.
Keyboardist Steve Kitch also provided instrumental ideas that developed into four songs, while bassist Jon Sykes contributed bass lines as the material took shape.
That approach also meant simplifying some of the arrangements. Rather than building songs from numerous layers of guitars and vocals, the band imposed limits intended to bring the studio recordings closer to what its members could reproduce together on stage.
Lyrically, ‘Far And Wide’ looks outward as well as inward. Soord drew inspiration from history, contemporary events and personal experiences surrounding the final months of his father’s life.
The resulting songs address subjects including mortality, loss, uncertainty and the wider state of the world.
The Pineapple Thief produced the album, with Soord handling the mix and Kitch the mastering. The official recording data lists Soord on lead vocals and guitar, Harrison on drums, Kitch on keyboards and synthesizer, and Sykes on bass and backing vocals.
