Nashville-based singer-songwriter Max McNown will release ‘Leave On A Light’ on September 25 via Fugitive Recordings. Across seventeen tracks, the Oregon-born artist combines indie folk, country soul and contemporary Americana with songs centred on love, family and gratitude.
The album follows ‘Wandering’ from 2024 and ‘Night Diving (The Cost of Growing Up)’ from 2025. McNown worked once again with his longtime collaborator and producer Jamie Kenney, recording at Blackbird Studio in Nashville.
For the project, McNown expanded his creative circle. Songwriter and producer Julian Bunetta contributed to the writing, while guitarist Charlie Worsham appears among the musicians involved in the sessions. Despite the wider range of collaborators, the album remains rooted in McNown’s lyric-led approach to songwriting.
Many of the songs reflect on the relationships that have supported McNown during his rapid rise. Rather than concentrating solely on professional success, ‘Leave On A Light’ explores the value of family, marriage and having a place of stability away from life on the road.
The new single Famous to You offers a direct example of that perspective. Built around the contrast between public recognition and personal connection, the song reframes ambition by asking who truly matters when the touring and attention fall away.
