John Homesley & The RUB have released ‘Nothing In Return’, an independently produced album recorded at Crystal Clear Sound in Dallas, Texas. The five-piece band combines traditional blues with touches of Texas swing and bluesrock, built around Homesley’s lead vocals and harmonica.
The line-up consists of John Homesley on vocals and harmonica, Bill Hamilton on guitar, John Perser on piano and Hammond B3, John Powell on bass and Jerry Bishop on drums. Hamilton, Perser, Powell and Bishop also contribute backing vocals.
Ten of the album’s eleven tracks were written by Homesley and Hamilton. The closing bonus track, Darlin, was written by the late blues singer and harmonica player James Harman. John Homesley and The RUB handled the production and arrangements, while Kent Stump engineered, mixed and mastered the recordings.
The album recently entered the Roots Music Report’s weekly Contemporary Blues Album Chart at number 36, bringing the independent Dallas band to a wider blues audience.
