New Single: Steve Earle & Los Lobos – Volver A Celaya
Steve Earle and Los Lobos have joined forces for the first time in the studio with ‘Volver A Celaya’, released digitally via New West Records.
Steve Earle & Los Lobos ‘Volver A Celaya’ is now available digitally, with a limited 7-inch vinyl edition arriving in October 16, 2026 via New West Records.
Written by Earle during songwriting workshops at the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music in Brooklyn last spring, ‘Volver A Celaya’ was recorded with Los Lobos in Richmond, Virginia, earlier this summer. Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin produced the session at Red Amp Studios. The collaboration explores immigration, identity and the meaning of home.
The song draws on Earle’s experiences working alongside Mexican crews as a young man in the early 1970s. Through its central character, it addresses immigration, work, family and the decision to return home. Earle and Los Lobos had previously shared stages and toured together, but had never recorded together in the studio.

The single is available now on streaming platforms. A limited-edition 7-inch vinyl release will follow on October 16 through independent retailers. The B-side is City of Immigrants, Earle’s song originally released on his 2007 album ‘Washington Square Serenade’.
