Marc Amacher is a Swiss blues musician (guitar, vocals) and ‘Overdrive’ is the title of his new album, featuring eleven new 100% raw energy blues tracks.

The lead single of the album is Streets Are Golden and that one is very groovy, and the slide guitar dominates this earthy blues track. Amacher kicks off his new album with the hard rocking Hell Yeah and the tone is set for the rest of this album for sure.

All songs, except for Can’t Beat Time, are raw, groovy, and gritty and grab you by the throat from the first riff, highlighting Amacher’s vitality and enthusiasm.

Can’t Beat Time, the longest track here, features a vocal duet between Amacher and Katarina Michel, and it is the only not hard driven guitar track of this album, and for me it is also the “weakest” song of ‘Overdrive’.

However, a “thing” that really bothered/ annoyed me was the over the top “raw” voice of Amacher, as it really sounds too artificial indeed.

But if you like your bluesy rock and roll raw and uncompromising then ‘Overdrive is certainly an album you will like.

Play it LOUD and you might enjoy it even more!
