Chicago blues guitarists Breezy Rodio and Will Jacobs reunite as Electric Soul Company, bringing their shared musical history to a new album released by Delmark Records on October 9, 2026.

Chicago’s blues scene has brought together countless musicians over the decades, and for Breezy Rodio and Will Jacobs, it also laid the foundation for a lasting musical connection. Both guitarists spent time performing with the late bluesman Linsey Alexander before pursuing their own careers. Now, their shared history has led to Electric Soul Company, a collaboration that brings together Chicago blues, soul, funk and R&B.

Their self-titled debut album, ‘Electric Soul Company’, features ten tracks reflecting the different musical paths the two musicians have followed. Released digitally by Delmark Records on October 9, 2026, the album marks a new chapter for two experienced bandleaders whose careers have taken them well beyond the Chicago blues circuit.

Born in Rome, Breezy Rodio established himself in Chicago after joining Linsey Alexander’s band in 2007. During his years with Alexander, he developed his skills as a guitarist and vocalist while gaining valuable experience in the city’s blues clubs. He subsequently pursued a solo career, recording several albums, including ‘Sometimes The Blues Got Me’ and ‘If It Ain’t Broke Don’t Fix It’ for Delmark Records.

Will Jacobs followed a different route. Born and raised in Chicago, he began performing with established blues musicians at an early age and later studied at Berklee College of Music. His career has included performances with artists such as C.J. Chenier, George Clinton and Shemekia Copeland. Since relocating to Berlin in 2016, Jacobs has continued developing his own approach to blues, incorporating elements of soul, funk and R&B.

Although their individual careers have taken them in different directions, their connection to Chicago and their experience with Linsey Alexander remain important elements of Electric Soul Company. The project brings their musical backgrounds together in a full-band setting, with both musicians sharing guitar and vocal responsibilities.

For ‘Electric Soul Company’, Rodio and Jacobs are joined by bassist Light Palone and drummer Lorenzo Francocci. Jacobs also contributes organ, while Chicago vocalist Sheryl Youngblood makes a guest appearance on So Close To It, written by Rodio.

The album consists primarily of original compositions, including If You Think I Need You, Down on Halsted Street, Our Love and We Still Got A Thing. Alongside their own material, the musicians revisit songs connected to the blues and soul traditions that have influenced their careers.

Among these are Been There Done That, co-written by their former mentor Linsey Alexander, Are You Serious, associated with soul singer Tyrone Davis, and Woman’s Gotta Have It, known from Bobby Womack’s repertoire.

With the interaction between two guitars at the heart of the project, Electric Soul Company brings together the musicians’ shared Chicago roots and their individual experiences in blues, soul and funk. The album is available digitally through Delmark Records, with a CD edition also listed by the label.
