Produced by Tom Hambridge and recorded in Nashville, the 11-track collection digs deep into Jovin Webb’s storytelling, where blues, gospel, and Southern rock collide in raw and revealing ways.

The album’s lead single, “Pray for Me,” sets the tone with swampy tremolo guitar, aching harmonica, and a confessional lyric that cuts to the bone—Jovin at his most vulnerable, wrestling with temptation, addiction, and faith. That tension between salvation and inner struggle runs throughout the record, from the hard-driving blues-rocker “Gunpowder & Lead” to the slow-burning “I Started Young” and the emotionally charged take on “Whipping Post,” a song he famously performed during his American Idol run.

Bio
Two years after his debut album ‘Drifter‘ established him as a formidable new voice in modern blues, Jovin Webb returns with a powerful second chapter—’Son Of A Sinner,’ out September 18 on Blind Pig Records. Produced once again by Tom Hambridge and recorded in Nashville, the 11-song collection digs deeper into the Louisiana native’s storytelling, where blues, gospel, and Southern rock collide in raw and revealing ways.

If ‘Drifter’ was the sound of a searching soul caught between Saturday night and Sunday morning, Son of a Sinner is what comes after—the reckoning. It’s the sound of a man owning his past, confronting his vices, and still reaching for redemption, even when he knows he might fall short.

The album’s lead single, “Pray for Me,” sets the tone with swampy tremolo guitar, aching harmonica, and a confessional lyric that cuts to the bone. It’s Jovin at his most vulnerable, wrestling with temptation, addiction, and faith—what he calls being “just a son of a sinner.” That tension between salvation and inner struggle runs throughout the record.

On the hard-driving blues-rocker “Gunpowder & Lead,” Jovin leans into danger and consequence, delivering a cautionary tale steeped in barroom grit and backroad philosophy. It’s a reminder that in his world, every action carries weight—and sometimes a price.

Jovin also tips his hat to his Louisiana roots with a swaggering take on “Every Time I Roll the Dice,” injecting the Delbert McClinton staple with his signature feel and road-tested charm. Meanwhile, his take on “Whipping Post”—a song he famously performed during his American Idol run—builds from a haunting acoustic opening into a full-band crescendo, showcasing the emotional firepower that first put him on the map.

The album’s emotional core reveals itself in songs like “After the Rain,” a Southern rock-tinged ballad about loss, resilience, and starting over, and “When I’m Gone,” where heartbreak gives way to hard-earned independence. On “It’s Alright,” Jovin offers a moment of perspective, embracing the blues not as a burden, but as a necessary part of the human experience.

Elsewhere, Son of a Sinner lets loose. “These Boots” struts with a swaggering, funk-infused blues-rock energy, while “Pull ’Em In” channels front-porch wisdom and Southern charm into a playful, groove-driven anthem. The slow-burning “I Started Young” dives deep into classic blues territory, tracing a lifetime of desire, mistakes, and self-awareness with unflinching honesty.

Together, the songs paint a portrait of an artist who isn’t afraid to tell the truth—even when it’s messy.

Jovin Webb first rose to national attention in 2020, when his performances on American Idol earned praise from judges including Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, who recognized in him something rare: authenticity. Raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and shaped by gospel music, the blues, and the realities of Southern life, Jovin built his voice the old-fashioned way—playing night after night across the Gulf Coast, living the stories he now sings.

That lived experience remains the foundation of his music. Whether he’s channeling heartbreak, redemption, temptation, or joy, Jovin doesn’t perform the blues—he inhabits it.

With ‘Son Of A Sinner,’ Jovin Webb takes a bold step forward, delivering a record that feels both timeless and immediate. It’s rooted in tradition but driven by a voice and perspective that are entirely his own.

Following the album’s release, Jovin will hit the road for a run dates in the U.S. and Europe, bringing his electrifying live show—and his hard-earned truths—to audiences around the world.
