Kelli Baker recently signed to Gulf Coast Records and is set to deliver her debut EP, ‘Granite’
A sultry blues enchantress who delivers an evocative collection of tracks highlighting a tantalising blend of dark blues and rock that pulls from her upbringing in Arizona’s wild west. Engineered and produced at VUDU Studios by Mike Watts.
Kelli’s rich, soaring vocals channel the raw emotion of the blues, blending soulful grit with chill-inducing passion as she weaves tales of heartache and unbridled emotion. Her spellbinding performances leave audiences in awe, craving more, as she solidifies her place as a blues powerhouse. Backed by a band of exceptional musicians, including Noé Socha, an Italian guitar and harmonica prodigy known for his collaborations with Paula Cole and Vanessa Collier, and a tight rhythm section led by Tom Curiano on drums.
Kelli had this to say when discussing her first single, “Silk Flowers,” out on August 1, 2025: “I wrote this about struggles in an evolving relationship in modern times. The cover art is a photo of my great-grandparents, and represents the long-time loves in each of our lives, if it be great-grandparents, parents, friends, life partners. My grandmother used to decorate her house with silk flowers — to me, it represents nostalgia, and a fabricated reality, lacking substance – ‘Silk Flowers don’t mean a thing, don’t you give me your roses when I’ve got a garden green’. I know what you’ve been up to, don’t pull one over on me kind of energy.”
Kelli’s second single “Granite (Badlands),” out on September 9, 2025, deals with loss and delivers the melancholic and retrospective view of a passing close to the heart. “This number taps into my desert roots and personal loss.” Kelli opens up and says. “I wrote it about my Dad, who passed suddenly while we were apart. We were incredibly close, and it’s haunted me that I didn’t instinctively feel his passing due to the fact he was alone at the end. The title comes from his playful alter ego, Luke Granite, a name he used when we pretended to be private detectives. The song reflects a place you can’t return to, where someone you loved once was, but isn’t anymore. We recorded it as a live take, just me and Noé Socha, who played guitar and harmonica simultaneously. I was blown away by the arrangement, just listen at 2:21 for the beautiful live harmony between the guitar and harmonica. The album art was shot at an abandoned gas station in Texas, during our tour, a nod to the song’s barren, haunted landscape.”
