Jacob Kynard has released his fourth single, Django’s Missing Tooth, continuing a steady run of new material with more songs expected to follow over the coming year.
The inspiration for the track came from an unusual encounter. Last year, Kynard met a dog named Django in White Sulphur Springs, Montana. Django was from Texas — and was missing a tooth.
That small detail stayed with Kynard. A missing tooth, he explains, is something you might never think about when it is there, yet once it is gone, its absence becomes noticeable every time you eat, talk or smile.
That simple but curious observation provided the inspiration for Django’s Missing Tooth, giving Kynard’s latest single a story every bit as distinctive as its title.
Django’s Missing Tooth was recorded at Dial Back Sound in Water Valley, Mississippi, with Clay Jones handling engineering and mastering and Starlin Browning taking care of the mix. Kynard is joined by John Smith on electric and slide guitar, Matt Patton on bass and Browning on percussion.
