Steven Wilson – Requiem For A Village
Format: CD / Blu-ray / 2LP / Limited Edition 3-Disc Earbook
Label: Fiction Records
Release date: November 6, 2026
With ‘Requiem For A Village’, Steven Wilson moves away from the cosmic themes of The Overview and turns his attention to an isolated, timeless village somewhere in the British Isles. The 54-minute album combines organic instrumentation with a deliberately imperfect recording approach, avoiding AI and corrective studio technology. Randy McStine is Wilson’s main collaborator, with Russell Holzman and vocalist Katherine Priddy also contributing. The album features a narrative written by Andy Partridge of XTC and voiced by actor David Tennant.
The first single, Requiem For A Village, provides the first glimpse of the album’s dark and atmospheric character. Driving drums and bass are combined with abrasive guitars, creating a cinematic track that gradually takes on the feeling of an approaching apocalypse. The accompanying Village Session was recorded live with McStine and Holzman.
