Keb’ Mo’ will release his new album ‘The Breakdown’ on August 21, 2026, via Concord Records. Across ten tracks, the five-time Grammy Award winner takes a stripped-back approach, placing his voice and guitar firmly at the heart of the music.
‘The Breakdown’ was largely recorded at Keb’ Mo’s home studio outside Nashville. The songs emerged during a period of major changes in his personal life.
Rather than surrounding them with elaborate arrangements, Keb’ Mo’ chose to bring the music back to its essentials, resulting in a predominantly acoustic collection rooted in blues, roots, folk and soul.
He is not entirely alone, however. Acclaimed gospel group Take 6 provides vocals on They Don’t Make ’Em Like They Used To, while South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir appears on Hand It Over.
Several songs from the album have already been released, including Fussing and Fighting, Hand It Over and One Day Away, offering the first glimpses of this new chapter in Keb’ Mo’s career.
After more than five decades in music, ‘The Breakdown’ finds Keb’ Mo’ choosing intimacy over grandeur: ten songs built around voice, guitar and songwriting.
