Label: Self-Release
Release date: August 28, 2026
Wichita, Kansas roots band Dustin Arbuckle & The Damnations will release their new album, ‘Fight Like The Devil (Or Run Like Hell)’, on August 28, 2026. The self-released eleven-track collection brings together blues, roots rock, Southern soul, country and Americana.
The album places Dustin Arbuckle’s vocals and harmonica alongside Brandon Hudspeth’s guitars, Caleb Drummond’s bass and Colby Aiken’s drums. Drawing on years of touring and collaboration, the four musicians have brought their wide-ranging influences together in a focused blues and roots-rock setting.
Most of the lyrics were written by Arbuckle, while much of the music and the arrangements were developed collectively by the band. The songs explore perseverance, difficult relationships, restless travel and the resilience required to keep moving forward.
Album opener Heaven Forbid was written by Ryan Taylor of The Rounders and is built around a restrained, slow-burning blues arrangement. Taylor also contributed You’re Gonna Hear Me on the Radio, a roots-rock song about a musician continuing to pursue a long-awaited breakthrough.
The title track addresses the choices people face when circumstances leave little room for retreat. Desperate Love examines a relationship that is difficult to escape, while Must Be Travelin’ On and mall Branch Motel focus on wanderlust, sleepless nights and the temporary surroundings of life on the road.
Alongside the original material, the album includes the band’s interpretations of songs by Bob Dylan and Gillian Welch.
‘Fight Like The Devil (Or Run Like Hell) ‘was recorded, mixed and mastered by Duane Trower at Weights and Measures Soundlab in Kansas City, Missouri. Tom Page handled additional recording at TOPtone in Wichita, Kansas.
Before forming The Damnations, Arbuckle spent fifteen years as the singer and harmonica player with Moreland & Arbuckle, recording for Alligator Records and Telarc. Guitarist Brandon Hudspeth also leads Kansas City band Levee Town and performs in Hudspeth & Taylor.
The album will be available on CD and digitally, with distribution handled through CD Baby.
