As Stevie Nimmo, Alan’s brother, decided to step back from touring with King King, the Scottish blues rock band is back to a foursome, being Alan Nimmo (guitar, vocals), Jonny Dyke (keyboards), Jon Lodge (drums) and Zander Greenshields (bass guitar).

King King’s new album ‘Light Up The Sky’ will be released soon and tonight in Heerlen the band will play a couple of tracks from that upcoming album.

An evening with King King is always packed with fun, emotion and musical craftsmanship and frontman Alan Nimmo always delivers the blues rock goods for 100%.

At 20:45 sharp the iconic hard rock song Highway To Hell blasts through the Nieuwe Nor and then the audience can enjoy the first new song of the upcoming album called Moving Away Day, and yes, it is a typical King King “classic,” featuring those fun vocals of Nimmo and an excellent guitar solo as well.

Cried Out For Love is also a new song and that one has a 100% addictive chorus, and it will probably become a live staple track for King King, as the crowd can easy singalong to this one for sure!

King King “oldies” tonight among others are Fire In My Soul, Waking Up, You Stopped The Rain and Rush Hour; the latter being a pure iconic King King track, featuring all the fantastic musical ingredients of this Scottish blues quartet.

Strong, released as a single on July 4, is a highlight in tonight’s setlist, as it features a groovy beat, razor-sharp guitar licks and solos, and outstanding vocals.

I Will Not Fall from the excellent ‘Maverick’ album ends the regular gig, but King King of course returns to the stage, to play two encores: When My Winter Comes and Stranger To Love.

So, again a wonderful performance by Alan Nimmo and Co., although the setlist, besides the new tracks, was perhaps a bit too predictable, but there is always something to nag about, right??

Looking forward to King King’s new album for sure!!!
