Wes McDonough – We’re All Just Matter, Searching for Meaning
A personal email from a Nashville singer-songwriter introduces Wes McDonough and his new album, shaped by struggle, recovery and a return to music.

Release date: November 6, 2026
“You don’t know me, so I’ll just be straightforward. I’m a 48-year-old singer-songwriter in Nashville. I made a record I believe in, and I’m just trying to get it heard.”
With these words, Wes McDonough recently introduced himself to Bluestown Music. Rather than sending a conventional press release, he shared the personal story of a musician who has found his way back to music after a difficult period in his life.
On November 6, 2026, McDonough will release his new album ‘We’re All Just Matter, Searching for Meaning’. The ten-track record moves between rock, pop-rock and Americana, with blues and R&B influences. Its songs explore love, loss, divorce, death, addiction and recovery.
In the early 2000s, McDonough attracted interest from major record labels and, by his own estimate, performed more than a thousand shows along the American East Coast. However, the breakthrough he had hoped for never came. After moving to Nashville in 2008, he experienced difficult years marked by personal setbacks and addiction.

In 2019, he began working towards recovery. He stopped drinking at the end of 2024 and gradually rediscovered his love of making music.
An important part of his musical return has been reconnecting with guitarist Drew Yount, with whom he worked more than twenty years ago. Following their reunion in 2025, the two began recording the album at Vital Studios in New Hampshire.
Yount produced, recorded and mixed the album, contributing guitars, bass, backing vocals and arrangements. McDonough handled lead vocals and co-production.
‘We’re All Just Matter, Searching for Meaning’ will be available on major streaming platforms from November 6. A limited edition on white vinyl is available for pre-order through McDonough’s official website, with shipping scheduled for December. Six of the ten songs previously appeared on his 2025 and 2026 EPs.
