Label: Catfood Records
Release date: October 16, 2026
American singer, songwriter, harmonica player and pianist Derrick Procell will release his new album ‘My Incredible Heart’ on October 16, 2026, through Catfood Records. Featuring eleven original compositions, the album brings together soul blues, rhythm and blues and gospel influences, with themes of resilience, love and perseverance running through the material.
Originally from Milwaukee, Procell has spent more than four decades working as a performer, songwriter and producer. His compositions have been recorded by artists including Shemekia Copeland, The Cashbox Kings and Melissa Manchester.
Following his first solo album of original material, ‘Why I Choose To Sing The Blues’, in 2016, he released ‘Hello Mojo!’ in 2022, which reached the top of the Roots Music Report Soul Blues chart.
On ‘My Incredible Heart’, Procell is accompanied by his All-Star Mojo Band and several guest musicians. The album opens with Alabama Bambulance, drawing on Southern soul traditions, while the title track reflects the record’s central theme of emotional resilience. I Was in the Room features Anne Harris on fiddle and mandolin.
The recordings feature bassist Todd Lazar, drummers Rick Vitek and Rob Davis, saxophonist Tom Trinka and trumpeter Mitch ‘The Lip’ Goldman, alongside guitar contributions from Zach Avery, Dave Steffen, Darren Jay Fallas and Zoey Witz.
Three tracks, Gettin’ Old, Use What U Got (To Do What U Can) and Too Much, were recorded live at the Raue Center for the Arts. The remaining material was recorded at Hear & Now Music and ReelSounds Chicago.
Procell produced and arranged the album, with Freddie Breitberg responsible for co-production, mixing and mastering. Bob Trenchard served as executive producer.
‘My Incredible Heart’ is Procell’s second album for Catfood Records.
