Singer Jovin Webb first gained attention in the United States in 2020 with his performances on TV-show American Idols, where he earned praise from judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan for his authenticity. Born in Louisiana, Webb was raised with blues and gospel music. After playing night after night across the Gulf Coast Webb signed with Blind Pig Records and released the 2024 recorded Drifter album.
And yet, 2026 there is his second album, ‘Son Of A Sinner’. If on Drifter Webb sounded like a searching soul living life on the road to the full, ‘Son Of A Sinner’ sounds like what comes after that: the reckoning.
‘Son Of A Sinner’ is produced (like Drifter) by Tom Hambridge, who also plays the drums on the album, along guitarist Kenny Greenberg, keyboardist Mike Rojas and bassist Tommy McDonald, and makes us aware of the unique sound of Webb’s raw storytelling, where blues, gospel and Southern rock collide.
The album contains the song Webb featured at American Idols, the Allman Brothers’ Whipping Post in an emotional version.
The album’s single Pray For Me tells us about Webb’s wrestling with temptation, addiction and faith in a stunning blues rock song.Gunpowder & Lead, the funky These Boots, Every Time I Roll The Dice and Pull ‘Em In are straight-forwarded blues rock songs.
And in songs like I Started Young, slow blues with beautiful slide guitar, the ballad After The Rain, When I’m Gone and It’s Alright Webb sings about loss and resilience with his raw gospel voice.
