Josh Rouse returns with ‘Museums and Women’, a richly observational album inspired by the people, places and fleeting encounters he has experienced on the road. Recorded in Nashville with longtime collaborator Brad Jones, the album blends folk, roots rock and pop with understated humor, bittersweet melodies and a strong sense of warmth.

Rouse’s characters are drifters and dreamers, constantly in motion but never truly lost. Across songs such as Spring, January Sky and Things Are Looking Up, themes of love, longing, optimism and human connection emerge, while Rouse’s storytelling turns ordinary moments into vivid portraits.

Recorded spontaneously with Brad Jones on bass and Fred Eltringham on drums, ‘Museums and Women’ captures Rouse at his most hopeful and romantic, continuing a critically acclaimed career that began with his 1998 debut Dressed Up Like Nebraska.
