‘Through The Years’ is a solo album by German guitarist Peter Schneider, also known as the bandleader of The Stimulators. Schneider selected nine instrumentals he recorded in his own studio through the years (1995 – 2025).

Side A of the album opens with two melodic and dreamy ballads who slightly remind us of Al DiMeola’s work. Real Blues was recorded in 1995 after Schneider just bought a new Les Paul guitar. He sampled some blues voices from his blues heroes and jammed over that with his trademark jazzy blues sound. Oasis is North-African influenced music, recorded after his first visit to Egypt and closes side A.

Side B opens with the spatial, atmospheric Floating and is followed by Walking The Blues, which is just that, featuring Schneider’s slide guitar. Señora Bella is a beautiful catsong about Schneider’s cat Bella, who preferably used to hide in his guitar case. This Life is reggae, one of Schneider’s musical passions as can be heard in his work with The Stimulators. Schneider got hooked on reggae as he first heard Bob Marley’s guitarist Al Anderson. This Life shows Schneider’s great versatility, not only in styles but also in guitar techniques (slide, acoustic, wah-wah). The album closes with Dust Road, a dreamy ballad again, that leads us directly to a prairie in America’s Mid-West.

‘Through The Years’ is a beautiful solo album by Peter Schneider, that shows us the versatility of many musical styles, always played in that very authentic melodic, jazzy guitar sound that is his trademark. Highly recommended for guitar music lovers!
