Dana Fuchs – Live in Denmark
Format: CD – Vinyl LP – Digital / Label: Ruf Records
Release: 2026
Text: Tom Wouters
Since the beginning of the century blues-rock powerhouse singer Dana Fuchs has taken a fixed place in the blues rock scene with her raspy voice that remind the audience a lot of Janis Joplin. It gave her a start as an actress in the off-Broadway musical Love, Janis, which ran from 2001 to 2003 and gave her a leading role in the Julie Taymor-directed movie Across The Universe (2007). In between she recorded her first album in 2003 together with longtime songwriting and performing companion Jon Diamond.
Now there is a live album, ‘Live in Denmark,’ recorded in October 2025. An album that captures the raw emotional depth and power of Fuchs. The band, apart from Fuchs, with already mentioned Jon Diamond (guitar), Kevin Mackall (bass) and Piero Perelli (drums) performs ten classic bluesrock songs.
Highlights are the opener Double Down On Wrong, Borrowed Time, Battle Lines and Curtain Close (with a short excerption to Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City) , all written by the duo Fuchs/Diamond. As an encore we get a quite superfluous cover of Sympathy For The Devil.
‘Live In Denmark’ is unfiltered, hand made blues rock from a lady with one of the most compelling voices in the genre.
