Eliza Neals the prolific songwriter and producer created the story ‘live in one take’ inside the late Grammy winner Mr.Barrett Strong Jr.’s “Studio B.” The recording engineer and guitarist Brian Lord ‘hit’ record while Eliza freestyled “Soul Free.”
Eliza Neals had just visited a baptist church in Detroit and experienced, with her sister, a full submersion baptism. “Soul Free” kicks off 2025 as an uplifiting gospel tinged bluesy classic. Backing vocals from Lisa Kai (Bobby Womack), Genie Lyles (Barrett Strong), Brian Lord (Mitch Ryder) and Eliza Neals, maintain the unforgettable melody. Mike Puwal (Alberta Adams) plays a carefree drum vibe as Al Turner (Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker) skilfully pops the bass line into the heavens. Eliza tops it off with angelic synthesized strings.

Mixed by Brian Lord at Studio B while Dave Feeny (White Stripes) wrapped up mastering at ‘the Tempermill’ in Ferndale, MI. “Soul Free” the first single from the forthcoming album, finds itself in a divided world, working to bridge the emotional gap for music lovers by “freeing” them from their everyday blues.
