Stigma is a German metal/rock band founded in 2021 by vocalist Gerald Zinnegger and guitar picker Markus Mantau, and the current lineup was completed by Rene Chlebnitdchek on bass guitar and Bernd Paptistella on drums. Stigma released two Eps so far, ‘Last Order’ (2022) and ‘First Call’ (2023) and ‘Second Chance’ is their debut studio album.

Stigma was heavily influenced by bands such as Alice Cooper and Metallica but on their debut album their sound is different, just listen to their brand new single Faraway and you will hear the “new” Stigma sound, classic rock with a temporary edge indeed.

The first three songs, The Signs, Glorious Victory, and Blaze Of My Heart, of ‘Second Chance’ sound like garage-metal with not very convincing vocals of Zinnegger. Follow up Faraway is a more relaxed, quieter track where Zinnegger’s voice sounds definitely better, while Corrupter is again a metal-like track, just like Pirate and Foul Play, featuring raw and heavy riffs galore.

Through The Night is the odd one out on ‘Second Chance,’ as this track sounds – what the hell are these guys thinking?  –  like a country song…

So, overall, Stigma’s first full studio album is diverse and sometimes even interesting, however I do not think that I will listen to Second Chance a lot, as there are definitely far better albums to enjoy for sure….
