Review: Mike Tramp – Songs of White Lion Vol. III

Mike Tramp – Songs Of White Lion Vol. III
Format: CD – Vinyl LP – Digital / Label: Frontiers Music Srl
Release: 2025
Text: Martien Koolen
‘Volume 1’ was released in 2023, ‘Volume 2’ followed in 2024 and now ‘Vol.3’ hits the shelves and on this one you can hear the deeper cuts, like e.g. the opening track Dirty Woman from the ‘Big Game’ album (1989), ‘Fight To Survive’ (1985) or Warsong from the ‘Mane Attraction’ album.
Joining Tramp (vocals) once again are his current band mates Morten Hellborn (drums), Claus Langeskov (bass guitar) and guitar picker Marcus Nand and Tramp sings a lower key throughout all the tracks.
New versions of In The City, Cherokee and All Burn In Hell have breathed new life into those tracks, which were originally recorded forty years ago, so for White Lion and Mike Tramp fans this album is a winner and a buy or die record for sure.
However, I would say that one compilation of the very best White Lion songs would have been more than enough, but that is just my personal, humble opinion. Furthermore, I do not understand why Radar Love, the iconic Golden Earring track is represented on this album, as it feels rather weird that this incredible song made it onto a reverence to White Lion, right?
