American singer-songwriter Luke Winslow-King, known for his soulful, gruff-warm vocals, with his ninth album surprises with an adventurous and versatile sound. Coast Of Light blends blues, jazz and folk into an atmospheric, sometimes even psychedelic sound. A sound that is largely determined by the tremendous (slide) guitar of Italian born, longtime companion and co-producer Roberto Luti.

The album opens quite ordinary with the mean bluesrock of Dangerous Blues, which is followed by two psychedelic sixties rocksongs, featuring Luti’s beautiful slide guitar, Teacher’s Desk and Shoot From The Hip. After the soullike Destiny, Winslow-King’s warm-gruff vocals excel in the straightforward blues of Don’t Worry Your Mind.

Where his (and Luti’s) New Orleans background is imminent in those songs, the influences of Spanish music (Winslow-King currently lives in Spain) are clear in two acoustic folksongs What’ll We Do and Coast Of Light, again with the beautiful slide sound by Luti. The atmospheric and psychedelic As Far As We Know and the beautifully sung americana ballad Lotus Blossom complete this tremendous album.

With ‘Coast Of Light’ Luke Winslow-King (and Roberto Luti) produced a richly textured album that sounds like a vivid, atmospheric journey.
