‘Thunder In The House’ is bluesrock force Eliza Neals’ retrieval to Detroit, her city of birth. Growing up on Acacia Street on the outskirts of Motor City Detroit and armed with a BA in Music from Wayne State University and the friendship with songwriting legend Barrett Strong (Marvin Gaye, The Temptations) always formed the backbone of her bluesrock sound. But on her thirteenth album Eliza Neals more than ever creates a sound that’s rooted deeply in the Motor City Sound we know from, for instance, Mitch Ryder.

‘Thunder In The House’ is a nine-song collection that Neals describes as an “anecdote for the soul”. Backed by her longtime companion guitarist and producer Michael Puwal and a few other Detroit-based musicians, as well as guest guitarist Frankie Maneiro, Neals strongly performs the catchy songs with a vintage MC5 instrumentation. Highlights of this fine album are All Alone, with a beautiful slide guitar, the piano ballad Locked Up and the closing song Thunder In The House.

‘Thunder In The House’ is a true tribute to the Motor City Sound of Detroit and a strong continuation of Eliza Neals’ career as one of the best bluesrock ladies with soul.
