Veteran guitarist and singer Rick Fowler sees his acclaimed solo album Back On My Good Foot reissued by Strolling Bones Records. Originally recorded in 2007, the album returns in 2026 as a newly remastered vinyl edition featuring updated artwork.
With a career spanning more than four decades, Fowler has worked alongside a wide range of artists, from blues legend Beverly “Guitar” Watkinsto Bill Berryof R.E.M. OnBack On My Good Foot, however, he focuses on what defines him most: heartfelt, authentic blues where emotion always takes precedence over technical flash.
The album’s distinctive character was shaped by an unfortunate accident shortly before recording. After suffering a serious arm injury, Fowler was forced to simplify his playing, relying more on feel than speed. The result is a deeply expressive collection of songs that captures the essence of traditional blues.
The album features original tracks including “Infected With The Blues,” “Skeletons In Your Closet,” and “Road To Nowhere,” alongside two songs written by Fowler’s friend and mentor Harl Baggett. It closes with an extended, nearly ten-minute interpretation of Savoy Brown’s classic “Hellbound Train.“With this long-overdue reissue, Back On My Good Foot gives new life to a hidden blues gem, showcasing Rick Fowler’s soulful guitar playing, heartfelt songwriting, and enduring passion for the blues.
