Memphis-based guitarist and vocalist Jad Tariq releases ‘Precious Company’ on September 18, 2026. The album follows his 2025 debut ‘Jad Tariq Sings’ and marks the next step in his development as a songwriter, singer and guitarist.
Across ten original compositions, Tariq brings together rhythm & blues, jump blues and elements of jazz. His guitar style combines a swinging rhythmic approach with the more direct expression of the blues, while his singing draws on the tradition of the blues shouters and crooners of the 1940s and 1950s.
The album moves between uptempo material and more restrained ballads. Titles such as September Moon, I Want a Mean Woman, Whiskey, Ain’t But a Dollar and Inflation’s High Blues reflect the range of subjects covered across the record.
Tariq is accompanied by a line-up featuring drums, upright bass, piano and rhythm guitar. Tenor and baritone saxophone and trumpet broaden the arrangements, while Jacob Huffman contributes harmonica to the closing track To My Used to Be. Several musicians also provide background vocals.
‘Precious Company’ was produced by Jad Tariq and engineered by Jon Hay at Lola’s Place Recording in Memphis, Tennessee. Dave Gross mixed and mastered the album at Fat Rabbit Studios in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
The album will be available digitally and as a CD and vinyl LP through MoMojo Records.
