Three-time Grammy Award winner Billy Strings will release his fifth studio album, ‘So Much For Goodbyes’, on August 28, 2026, through Reprise Records. The 16-track album was produced by Strings and T Bone Burnett and follows 2024’s ‘Highway Prayers’.
The announcement follows a successful period for the American guitarist, singer and songwriter, including a sold-out performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2025. The album’s lead track, Burn the Other End, is available now together with an official music video.
‘So Much For Goodbyes’ was shaped by the loss of Billy Strings’ mother, Debra Apostol, who passed away in 2025. The album is dedicated to her, while her original artwork has been used for the cover. Her name also appears in the title of the closing track, ‘Debra’s Waltz’.
Strings produced the album with T Bone Burnett. Most of the recording took place at Sound Emporium in Nashville, with additional sessions elsewhere in the city.
Bluegrass remains central to Billy Strings’ music, but his work also draws on Americana and other American roots traditions. The new album contains sixteen songs, including Mill Town Flood, Bluewater Breakdown, I Like Train Songs and Wrestling an Angel.
