Ismo Haavisto, Andres Roots & Matias Partanen – Tribute To Elmore
A live EP by the Finnish/Estonian trio of Ismo Haavisto, Andres Roots & Matias Partanen will be released on May 7th, 2021 via Estonia’s Roots Art Records
The ‘Tribute to Elmore’ CD includes 5 tunes recorded on August 4th, 2018 at the 25th Augustibluus festival in Haapsalu, Estonia during a show dedicated to the 100th birthday of blues great Elmore James.
The recordings were made by Heino Maripuu who has been documenting the Estonian rock scene since 1972 and mastered by Asko-Romé Altsoo, with photos by Leif Laaksonen and Lotta Tuominen and cover design by Siret Roots.
The band consists of Ismo Haavisto (Finland) on vocals, guitar and harmonica, Andres Roots (Estonia) on guitar and Matias Partanen (Finland) on drums – Ismo sings four of the tracks while Andres takes the lead for the all-instrumental “Hawaiian Boogie”.
Haavisto and Roots have been touring together in Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania since 2013, when they did a similar tribute tour for Muddy Waters.
