Max Hightower has announced the release of his new album, ‘The Blues Chooses You’ on October 9, 2026, via MoMojo Records. The album combines New Orleans influences and Carolina soul with the electric blues of Chicago. Hightower is joined by four musicians, including guitarist Joe Moss.

The group chose a direct approach to recording: all five musicians played together in one room, with the performances captured straight to analog tape. There were no overdubs and no corrections made afterward. The natural interaction between the musicians, including spontaneous changes during the sessions, became part of the recording process.

The twelve-track album includes original material and interpretations, among them Things I Used to Do and I Don’t Know. The title track also appears in an extended version.

As Hightower explains, he did not deliberately seek out the blues. Instead, the blues found him, an idea that helped inspire the album’s title.
