Blues Keeps Knocking is the fourth album by Arnhem-based blues formation The Marble Tones. The band (A.J. Folkerts – guitar, Ben Bouma – harp, Anne Maarten van Heuvelen – bass and vocals and Bert de Jonge – drums) since 2001 played all over Europe and in the San Francisco Area.
The album will be released at October 21 and the band play an album release party at Luxor Live at their home town Arnhem.
The sound of ‘The Blues Keeps Knocking’ leans heavily on Ben Bouma’s harp sound in 12 songs recorded live in the studio and is inspired by the Chicago blues from the early sixties.
It is swing blues combined by boogie elements, played with a lot of enthusiasm and skill, like in the title song Blues Keeps Knocking, in Settle Down and in the Paul Butterfield Band-like My Baby Leaves Her Stuff.
Around The Stump is a vintage sounding track reminding us to the unforgotten Red Devils. Highlight of this very nice swing blues album is Give Them Folks A Smile, featuring the tremendous Ben Bouma at the chromatic harp.
