British singer and multi-instrumentalist Paul Carrack returns to classic country with ‘The Country Side of Paul Carrack Vol. 2′, released on August 7, 2026. The album follows the first volume of Carrack’s country project and features ten songs drawn from the American country tradition.
Recorded in Nashville with producer Steven Wood and a group of Nashville studio musicians, the album finds Carrack continuing to explore a genre that has long been part of his wide-ranging musical interests.
The track selection reaches across several generations of country music. Carrack takes on That’s The Way Love Goes, associated with Merle Haggard, alongside Is Anybody Goin’ to San Antone, a hit for Charley Pride, and Freddy Fender’s Before The Next Teardrop Falls.
Also included are Old Chunk of Coal (But I’m Gonna Be a Diamond Someday), recorded by John Anderson, and Always on My Mind, closely associated with Willie Nelson. The album opens with That’s How I Got to Memphis and also includes songs such as Nobody’s Darling but Mine, Let It Be Me and Baby We’re Really in Love.
‘The Country Side of Paul Carrack Vol. 2‘ adds another chapter to a career that has moved comfortably between soul, pop, rhythm and blues and roots music. Carrack’s distinctive voice became familiar through songs including How Long with Ace, Tempted with Squeeze and “The Living Years” with Mike + The Mechanics, alongside his extensive solo career.
For this second country collection, however, the focus remains firmly on the songs and traditions of Nashville.
