American singer-songwriter Pokey LaFarge has released his brand-new single “Hambone”, the latest preview of his forthcoming album Rent Money, due out on September 11, 2026, via his own Boxer Boy Records, with distribution by PIAS. The release is accompanied by an official music video directed by longtime visual collaborator Jacob Butler.

Built around a traditional hambone rhythm, the new track perfectly captures LaFarge’s unmistakable blend of vintage American roots music and irresistible dance grooves. The song originated from a simple recording sent by producer Elliot Bergman, who performed the rhythmic hambone pattern on his thigh. That original performance remains at the heart of the finished recording, giving the song its distinctive feel. According to LaFarge, Hambone is simply “a party track” that reflects how much of his music is ultimately meant to get people moving.

Hambone follows the previously released singles “Rent Money” and “The Thing“, offering another taste of the musical direction of the upcoming album. Across its eleven tracks, Rent Money blends blues, country, gospel, early rock ‘n’ roll and soul into LaFarge’s signature sound while exploring both personal experiences and the everyday struggles of modern America. Bluestown Music will take a closer look at Rent Money with a full album review following its release.
