In 2006 Michael Katon released his last album called ‘Diablo Boogie,’ ‘Blues Brewed In Hell,’ and now after a nineteen-year hiatus Katon, the king of boogie, is back with a new album called ‘Boogie, PT. 1 & PT. 2.’
And what a surprise album this is, NOT, of course as you know what to expect from a new Michael Katon album: sheer 100% to the point LOUD guitar boogie/rock and roll, featuring those typical Katon gruff vocals and that dirty, mean distorted guitar riffs and solos galore!
‘Boogie, PT.1 & PT.2’ is just the same old, same old, no variety whatsoever, but if you like that dirty guitar boogie, then this album is a treat to your ears indeed. Highlights here are the longer tracks, like Boogie Town PT.1 , I Came Here To Boogie PT. 2 and Lazy Boy Boogie PT. 1; by the way, notice that all the ten songs feature the word boogie…..
And Wildass Boogie is probably the most original title for sure, although in this me-too era I wonder if this is appropriate…
Overall, this new Katon boogie album is just for the fans indeed, but it is certainly a nice album for a good rock and roll party!!
