The Pink Stones, een heerlijke country-rock band uit Athens, Georgia. Hun debuut album komt nu uit! ‘Introducing… The Pink Stones’. Een album in de beste Gram Parsons traditie, wie had dat nog verwacht!
Het is een geweldig album, dat weer een verlangen geeft naar de de goede jaren negentig, met bands als Uncle Tupelo, Say Zuzu, Wagon, Hadacol, The Grievious Angels, The Fountains, Lonesome Bob, Bottle Rockets, Slobberbone, the Gourds, Blood Oranges en Lazy Sunday Dream! We hadden recenter nog het geweldige Gospelbeach!
Hunter Pinkston is the leader van de band maar in de band speelt ook niemand minder dan John Neff bekend van the Drive-By Truckers en Star Room Boys. Country, maar dan wel met een fikse dosis soul en soms hard rockend.
In 2015 kocht Hunter Pinkston de single Brass Buttons van The Lemonheads. Op de b-kant stond Gram Parsons’ originele versie van dat nummer. Dat was het einde van Pinkston’s punk-obsessie en het begin van zijn totale liefde voor cosmic country.
