Wes Jeans – One Day At A Time
Format: CD (EP) / Label: Against The Grain Records
Release: 2024
Text: Tom Wouters
Wes Jeans is a renowned badass, blues rock axe ripper Texan guitar player who is alive and kickin’ in the tradition of Texan blues rock hero Stevie Ray Vaughan.
A few years ago he recorded a live album with fellow hot sauce guitarist Lance Lopez and this time Jeans releases an EP with the help of another SRV-adept Hungarian born and since 2007 Texas-based guitarist Tommy Katona.
The EP contains five hard blues rock tracks in which the ghosts of SRV, Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top are never far away.
It is heavy muscle rock at high speed in which the guitars of Jeans and Katona duel at cutting edge in songs like No Tears Left To Cry, Graceland, Me & My Woman, the John Lee Hooker penned Dimples and the Stevie Ray Vaughan hymn Say One Thing.
‘One Day At A Time’ is a short but intense badass heavy blues rock experience.
