Review: Blacksilver – Royals Of Rock

Blacksilver – Royals Of Rock
Format: CD (EP) – Digital / Label: Independent
Release: 2025
Text: Martien Koolen
Blacksilver, hailing from Zwolle, The Netherlands, releases a new EP called ‘Royals Of Rock’; and the band consists of Alian Hermans (vocals and bass guitar), Raymond van Olphen (guitar), Alex Akkerman (guitar, backing vocals) and Rik Bruintjes (drums).
Just like on their debut EP the band plays energetic, powerful blues rock, meaning pounding drums, raw bass hooks and heavy/bluesy guitar licks and solos. The opening title track has all the aforementioned musical ingredients, and it is a fantastic way to start this EP indeed.
Echoes Of Time is another highlight of this EP, as it features wonderful soaring guitar solos and heartfelt vocal harmonies. Golden Roses is a wonderful power ballad, again with some impressive guitar work from Akkerman and van Olphen, while the last track I Know is rather dark and raw with a very addictive riff.
So, an amazing blues rock EP by an incredibly talented Dutch band: listen and enjoy.
