The Bintangs are the longest-running rock band in the Netherlands. Since 1961, founder and leader Frank Kraaijeveld and his buddies have been making the Netherlands and surrounding areas unsafe with their unpolished rock sound, and the sacred fire still burns after 63 years.
In 2021, they celebrated their sixtieth anniversary with the critically acclaimed album ‘These Hands.’
And now the new album ‘Heroes, Beggars And Kings’ is in store. The band consisting of Frank Kraaijeveld (bass and vocals), veteran Burt van der Meij (drums), Dagomar Jansen (vocals, guitar and mouth harp) and Marco Nicola (slide guitar and vocals) still brings that rough sixties Stones rock sound (although you may wonder which of the two bands discovered that sound earlier), as can be heard in the opener Sweet Honey Bee, Off The Hook, Power Shower, the great Your Sweet Prison and the Dr. Feelgood-like Wilder Than You.
But with slide guitarist Marco Nicola, the Bintangs have a new trump card in their hands. His slide guitar excels in the ballad Heaven Is Nowhere, the semi-acoustic Rolling Down Again and When I Hear Your Name, where the sandpaper voice of Frank Kraaijeveld immediately brings you back down to earth.
On their 23rd album in 63 years, The Bintangs show that they still have the holy rock fire.
