For the first time an Italian band, Sacromud, recorded a whole album at Sun Recording Studios like Elvis Presley, Junior Parker, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and more recently U2, Ruthie Foster and Robert Randolph
Some might say there are times in life to dream with your eyes closed at night or with eyes wide open during the day. Others might say that to dream neither time nor place matters.
For Sacromud, however, there was a very specific place: Memphis. So to set out from Gubbio and travel 8292 kilometers to get to Tennessee meant drawing a line between dreaming and actually pursuing that dream.
Taking the music back to its source maybe it’s part of what makes a life worth living. While we may not have been programmed to make our dreams come true, when you hear the sound of the Mississippi river actually sitting on its bank and you are about to record your music at Sun Records, the suggestion becomes real.
All of this is true but you have to want this life: for the first time an Italian band recorded an album at Sun Recording Studios like Elvis Presley, Junior Parker, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and more recently U2, Ruthie Foster and Robert Randolph.
All this wild willing lies within the album ‘The Sun Experience’, where the space is exactly that space, where the sound is exactly that sound, where each track is part of that story experienced firsthand.
There was another thing in this “dream project”: to realise a documentary (soon to be released), filming everything that happened in Memphis. Another reading, compared to the music played as a soundtrack, made of social issues, cultural differences and a deep immersion in today’s America, where the dream, gives way to something arguably much more real and sincere than imagined.
