Dutch guitarist Mark Bogert, known for his work with progressive rock bands Magoria (from 2019 to present) and Knight Area (from 2012 to 2023), returns this fall with his long-awaited third solo album: ‘Antiquity Neon’
In recent years, Bogert has become a respected name in the symphonic and progressive rock scene, both as a solo artist and a session musician. In 2023, he played a prominent role on Edward Reekers’ concept album ‘The Liberty Project’, and contributed all guitar parts to the studio album ‘Terra Nova’ by the English prog band Hekz. He also filled in for guitarist John Mitchell during several live performances of the British prog rock band Arena.
A career highlight came earlier, in 2019, when Bogert performed as part of the house band at the Sena Guitar Awards, sharing the stage with guitar legend John Petrucci (Dream Theater). In 2024, his work was further recognized when he was voted Guitarist of the Year (Benelux) by readers of Gitarist Magazine and in 2025 ‘Best Metal Guitarist of the Benelux’. He also appeared in the Dutch theater tour The Storytellers: Gitaarhelden, performing alongside renowned guitarists Harry Sacksioni and Maarten Peters.
Now, with ‘Antiquity Neon’, Mark Bogert returns to the spotlight as a solo artist. The album showcases his signature style: expressive, melodic instrumental rock where the guitar takes on the role of lead vocals. Bogert invited a number of distinguished guests to collaborate on the new record. Among them are legendary bassist Stuart Hamm (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai) and Edward Reekers (Kayak, Ayreon).
Mark Bogert about his new solo album: “I’m deeply grateful to all the fellow musicians— especially the incredibly talented ones—who contributed to my new solo album ‘Antiquity Neon.’ Thanks to them, the songs were given color and life, and it remains a special experience to witness their growth.
A huge thank-you also goes out to Jan Dekker of Prosound Media Studio in Dordrecht. His tireless dedication is beyond words. I dare say there’s no one as in tune with my music as he is, and that continues to motivate me immensely.
Last but not least, thanks to Construction Records. I’m incredibly proud of our new collaboration. It’s amazing to be part of a label that truly believes in the music, and I’m excited to embark on this journey together. The communication has been fantastic, and we can’t wait to share the music with our listeners.”
