Here, Barbiani pulls out all the stops – the genius from Minnesota would have loved it. But the JBB also masters quieter and gentler tones, as the dreamy acoustic instrumental track ‘Little Martha’ shows.
The initially slightly sluggish ‘Spend Me Your Light,’ on the other hand, exudes plenty of Southern feeling, while ‘We Must Dream’ pays homage to boogie – somewhere between Canned Heat and ZZ Top. If you like down-to-earth, catchy blues rock, this is the place for you.
