Detroit born Blues-rock force Eliza Neals returns with her 13th studio album ‘Thunder in the House’

Growing up on Acacia Street, on the outskirts of Detroit, Eliza’s music is deeply rooted in a diverse musical gumbo along her indigenous Armenian ethnic heritage. Living near the groundbreaking sounds created in the ‘Paris of the Midwest,’ was revolutionary. Armed with a BA in Music from the urban prestigious Wayne State University and a friendship with late songwriting legend Barrett Strong (Marvin Gaye, The Temptations), was the foundation she needed. This latest album embodies a connection between the supernatural and the spiritual, conveying the essence of the goddess Isis as she weaves sacred bluesy tones and soulful riffs into each note.

“Thunder in the House” presents a powerful nine-song collection that Eliza describes as an “anecdote for the soul.” This album promises to uplift listeners with its infectious beats and catchy hooks, channeling both her darker emotions and her resilient spirit. The album cover features Eliza Neals standing on Acacia Street, mirroring the Acacia tree a visual testament to the grounding energy that protects and inspires her music. It serves as a metaphor for divine protection in her life, echoing the themes of connection, guidance, and love of mankind highlighted in her songwriting.

Collaborating with an impressive roster of Detroit musicians, Eliza’s longtime friend plus Billboard charting producer, guitarist Michael Puwal (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Alberta Adams) returns to ‘wear many hats,’ co-producer, songwriter and engineer. Detroit bassist Doug Woern with drummer Steve Lacross plus Flint, MI drummer Justin Headley (Butch Trucks Band, DeSoto Tiger) they solidly fertilize the groove. Eliza Neals is joined by standout guests like Mark ‘Muggie Doo’ Leach (Buddy Miles, Micki Free) and ‘Detroit’ Mike Hepner (Brian Lee, Kid Royal) adding their unequivocal talents on Hammond B3 plus grand piano.

Guest Frankie Maneiro (Luther ‘Guitar Junior’ Johnson) of the New England blues scene brings his raw skill on guitar. Eliza Neals digs way down below the water-table writing on grand piano plus Rhodes while layering vocals to create a postmodern blues-rock soul inspired sound. When there’s thunder in the house, sometimes it comes with lighting in a bottle.
